The rumors are true: I never leave food on my plate. I simply don’t believe in letting any food go to waste, even down to the last crumb. It would truly pain me to do so. So when the company I’m talking about today reached out to me, I knew we were going to be fast friends…
I’m really excited to be partnering with Hungry Harvest, who share a similar vision that no food should go to waste. They take recovered produce (think aesthetic imperfections) which can’t be sold in grocery stores and create a beautifully curated harvest for you. Best of all, they give back to local communities – here in Philadelphia, they support Philabundance, and for every harvest purchased in the Philly area, they donate one pound of produce to Philabundance. Definitely making a beautiful thing out of “ugly” produce 😉 Learn more about their mission here!
It’s so funny – I’ve only seen a few episodes of Shark Tank and Hungry Harvest happened to be on an episode I watched, and even then I thought it was awesome!
Hungry Harvest sent over a mini-harvest (which runs $15 per box) to get a sense of what they’re all about. I received:
- Avocados (which were promptly used for avocado toast)
- Corn
- Carrots
- Cauliflower
- Kale
- Oranges
- Shallots (They even sent over a shallot recipe in an email!)

This is such a great way to prepare for any summer BBQs, or even if you’re pressed for time to grocery shop. Maybe there’s a fruit or veggie you don’t like? You can add it to your “Never List,” and it will never be in your harvest.
My mom is an incredible cook, and she whipped up some grilled kale, carrots, shallots and cauliflower from the harvest, as seen below (Ina Garten is shook).
