We’re going to start this Philly Finds in a bit of an unconventional way. So, I feel like I have several different personalities online. An Instagram persona, a different voice here on this blog than that on the newsletter, snarkier on Twitter, carefree on TikTok. It all rarely feels cohesive, but perhaps that’s part of the brand. I try to juggle it the best I can, but inevitably things (and by “things” I really mean “content”) slips through the cracks.

So all this to say – what would you like to see more of? This could be anything for the blog or social media. Restaurant round-ups? Weekly outfits? More video? Home décor ideas? Travel itineraries? Let me know, it’s completely anonymous. Even tell me if you don’t like something! We’re all about making this a prime user experience.

Caribou Café

When people think French cuisine in Philly, Parc instantaneously comes to mind, and perhaps Bistrot La Minette (which is criminally underrated). And deservedly so, both are excellent choices. But don’t count out Caribou Café. Now, if you are an avid watcher of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, the restaurant might seem familiar to you. Essentially a crime was committed here, as real housewife Shereé Whitfield was stood up by her boyfriend here. Friends and I went and drank Brut Rosé and ate peppercorn cheese, all while honoring Ms. Whitfield. No one can do that to her!

New Rittenhouse restaurant – Aleksandar

Since the beloved V Street closed, I’ve been wondering what would take its place at the 19th Street location. It appears that a new challenger has entered the ring by the name of Aleksandar. I wasn’t able to find too much about the new space online, other than it might be “European, American, New American” and “Casual Dining, Bar / Lounge, Upscale Casual.” An investigation begins… watch this space!

Rose Tattoo Café

It also looks like the long-shuttered Rose Tattoo Café may be re-opening. I may just need to call Mike as the sign suggests and confirm this news.

Ratchada Thai and Laos Restaurant – BYOB

This is one where I feel like I’m the last to know. Everyone knew the secret and I just found out. Located on 11th and Washington, Ratchada has some of the best Thai food in this entire city. I’ll go on record here and say it – one of the best 👏 Philly 👏 meals👏 I’ve 👏 ever👏 had 👏.

Paws on the Patio book launch

Where: White Dog Café Glen Mills at The Shoppes at Brinton Lake, 981 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, PA

When: Tuesday, July 19, 5:00-7:00pm

Obviously every dog breed is unique and special in their own way (but Yorkshire terriers reign supreme). So naturally, they have to have their own signature drink to go along with their personalities. Fearless Restaurants Director of Wine and Beverage Michele Gargiulo has pondered these pooch pairings and more and has just released her first book Pairing Paws, Dog Breeds, and their Spirit Wines. I met Michele during the Daddy O stay, and was immediately struck at how fun she is. She showed us some behind-the-scenes of the creation of this book (and I do think she’s making a cat cocktail book next!).

For this event dogs are welcomed, and Michele’s own Yorkshire Terrier Riesling will even be there. Books will also be available onsite for purchase. Tickets are $50 and include a glass of White Flower by Penns Woods Winery of Chadds Ford (which is featured in the book), an autographed copy of the book and small bites and can be purchased here.
