What’s On Philadelphia: The Bakeshop on Twentieth

One of my favorite Philadelphia gems is The Bakeshop on Twentieth in Rittenhouse Square. This petite, cozy cafe “specializes in recreating tastes from your childhood using treasured family recipes” and bakes fresh treats every day. Whether it’s for a quick lunch, a croissant, or a cup of La Colombe coffee, I love coming here.

Two of my favorite lunches are the Grilled Cheese Special and the Avocado Toast. But the real stars here are their pastries and cakes.

I’m not sure if these pop-tart cookies pictured below are made every day, but if you visit and they are on display, get one. It is quite possibly one of the most delicious treats I’ve ever had. If you really want to indulge, I suggest the Rittenhouse Square bar, and their scones are also out of this world. Also, the cakes made there by Nutmeg Cake Design are absolutely breathtaking. I love going into the shop and seeing one of her cakes in progress. Following Nutmeg on Instagram is also a tasty treat to your Insta feed!

Who doesn’t love a whimsical sign like this? I think this is the exact sign that drew me in the first time I visited!

Be sure to follow them on Instagram for even more tasty treats, and hopefully you’ll have the chance to visit in person!
