Festive Fall

What’s not to love about fall? The crisp autumn air, hayrides, cozy sweaters, Halloween, bonfires; the list goes on and on as to why we have a love affair with fall. As we emerge from our sadness that summer is officially over and right before the frigid winter sets in, we have a few blissful autumnal months to make the most of. So how have I been making the most of my fall? For starters, this past weekend, my sorority sister and I decided to head to our local orchard, Linvilla Orchards, to pick some apples, a classic fall activity. You can also pick your own pumpkins, strawberries and raspberries there.

I’ve also been looking into some new fall Halloween crafts to try out, when I came across a rainbow pumpkin craft, and I thought I’d give it a shot.

If you want to try this fun craft yourself, here’s what you’ll need:

After I painted my pumpkin white and let it dry, I used a hot glue gun to glue down the crayons onto the pumpkin, so the crayons would stay in place while blow drying them. Also, I had a smaller pumpkin, so I cut the crayons in half.

Next, I started blow drying the crayons and they started melting quickly. Warning: wax may splatter!

And voila! There you have it, your own rainbow pumpkin. This craft was pretty cheap and easy, and is great for kids. I think I’ll be keeping the pumpkin inside though so no squirrels try to eat the paint or crayons!

I look forward to sharing more of my fall plans with you, and would love to hear about yours! If you have any crafts or DIY projects, I would love to hear about them in the comments below.

What a nice place. I really like the idea of the painted pumpkin. Little ideas are sometimes the coolest 🙂

  2. […] find everything you want in fall at Linvilla.  I also picked up a pumpkin from Linvilla to do this fun craft a few years ago after a day of apple picking in the orchards. Don’t forget to bring home […]
