Tell us a little bit about yourself Kimmy. My name is Kimberly Bartner, I grew up on Long Island and attended Penn State University, where I got my Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Arts degree, which for me was a compilation of graphic design, communications and fine arts. I’m currently living in Manhattan working as a graphic designer and making Krispie Kreations in my spare time.

How did you start making rice krispie art? Experimenting in the kitchen started my sophomore year of high school. One of my best friends suffering from cancer, and I needed something to put all my emotion and energy into. When I started feeling down, I started to bake and create. This continued through college and now in my every day life. When I’m having a rough day, I head to the kitchen and break out my mixing bowls. The krispies started when my boss needed a birthday cake but competitors were too pricey, so I offered to make hers. I had so much fun doing it that it, that it was all I could think about. So after that, I started to make Krispie Kreations whenever I had an event. Soon after requests started coming in.

What’s your favorite design you’ve done so far? My favorite design so far has to be a tie between the Chinese food and the #bearytalewedding. I love the story behind the #bearytalewedding; they’re high school sweethearts who just got engaged. It was my first big cake, so I was super nervous about it, but I love how it came out! And then the Chinese food. My friend asked me to make a plate of Chinese food, and I had no idea how I was going to make to it. So I made some hot and sour soup out of Jell-O shots, and added some extra candy to fried rice. I love mixing other materials with the krispies. The more challenging, the better!

Anything else we should know about you and/or your future business ventures? I’ve been doing this for less than a year, so I’m just getting started. Each cake I’m improving and coming up with new techniques. Not to mention, I also have gluten free and dairy free options. My website will be up soon, and one day I hope to get Krispie Kreations out across the country. I’ll be teaming with up with the people from Eddies Pizza Truck and Takumi Taco for events and dessert options. Be on the lookout for more Krispie Kreations!
