Before we start, please read & consider donating
If you live in Philadelphia, you know of the horrific, fatal fire that occurred in Fairmount. If you are financially able to, please consider donating to support those affected by this fire. Billy Penn published an article with several fundraisers supporting these families. <3
It’s hard to believe we’re nearly at the 50th volume of Philly Finds. I love doing this series so much, and I hope it’s been helpful to you! If you’re new here (firstly, welcome!) Philly Finds is a series highlighting things around the city I’ve checked out and have enjoyed.
I suppose I’ve launched podcast. I say suppose, because I have no real intention of keeping it to a strict schedule but rather release episodes on a whim. The idea behind this podcast is to have guests on to speak on a specific area within pop culture, whether it be reality television, influencer culture, or the effect PB Teen Magazine had. My friend Greg and I will be recapping this season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and our first episode is out now. Last week, an episode with Rebecca Siegel dropped, where we chatted all things 2000s and Y2K. An upcoming episode features Sola Onitri, who will be sharing all of her fashion knowledge.
I know I’ve been asking a lot of you recently (thank you for subscribing to the blog & the newsletter), but if you can find it in your heart to check out and subscribe to the pod as well – well, appreciation doesn’t even begin to cover it. It’s what we must do when attempting to create a media conglomerate!
I recently had my first experience with Dysport at DermaCenter, located in a private boutique in Rittenhouse Women’s Wellness Center. DermaCenter offers several services, such as laser hair removal, peels, other injectables and more. Full disclosure, I received this treatment free of charge. I could not have been more thrilled with the results. Lisa Taxin, PA-C provided my treatment and she is wonderful. I’ll be sharing before-and-after photos on my Instagram stories soon, and would be happy to answer any questions about the process.
Pictured it, Sicily 1909…
This week I attended something I have been preparing all my life for – a Golden Girls puppet show. The Kimmel Culture Campus presented The Golden Girls Show at the Merriam Theater, which reenacted three episodes of the beloved show. Alas it was one night only, but The Kimmel has many great shows lined up. As someone who works in an arts organization, now more than ever do our arts orgs need our support.
I missed you Monk’s. A lot. It was lovely to reunite with you, your incredible beer selection (the Avec Les Bons Voeux Ale was what I needed to warm up on the coldest day in three years), and of course the mussels. I highly recommend with mussels in the Thai Curry sauce.
Monk’s is the type of place where you’ll feel cozy, comforted and welcomed. Where the bartender will make you the smoothest Old Fashioned, just after pouring a beer for the person at the other end of the bar working on their novel. I love it there.
Galentine’s Day at Autograph Brasserie
Fearless Restaurants is back with their annual Galentine’s Day event! They’ll be celebrating Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Autograph Brasserie, 503 West Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA. The event is BYOG – bring your own girlfriends and features exclusive shopping with some of the region’s best vendors, a glass of bubbly, and raffles for fantastic prizes. The event is from 7-9 pm, space is limited, tickets are required and can be purchased here. I went to one held at Louie Louie which I wrote about here a few years ago, and it was so much fun. Fearless never disappoints with their events.
