sometimes we brave SIPs for The Continental Bar
Long time no chat, eh? July began with a bang and quite frankly hasn’t stopped since. It’s been 2 weeks of beach time, photographing a friend’s wedding (congrats Cat and Tyler!), obsessing over Baz Luhrmann’s wildly campy Elvis movie, and now Funny Girl that one L*a M*chele will be taking on the role of Fanny Brice. You can say it’s been a lot.
If you haven’t already I hope that you’ll vote for this blog for “Best Philly Blog” in Metro Philly’s “Best of Philly” competition:
Peak Mobility in OCNJ
I recall my first time ever have seeing cupping done. It was during the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics (and what an Olympics it was), when Michael Phelps turned around and revealed the bruising on his back. Ever since then, I’ve been curious to try it. And as it turns out, Ocean City, NJ has its very own cupping and gua sha business called Peak Mobility. Owner Lauren (LMT, NASM-CPT) reached out with the offer for a complimentary session which I immediately jumped at.
The 25-minute session began with a light massage and gua sha treatment, and when I say that I could feel the knots dissipating in my shoulders. Bliss. Lauren then began the cupping, which surprisingly didn’t hurt me that much, just mild discomfort. But I imagine that varies on the person. I also just really enjoyed Lauren as a person. She just has such a fun, playful personality and made the whole experience that much more enjoyable.
I also posted more about the experience on TikTok. If you’re interested in booking with Lauren, it’s easiest to shoot her an Instagram DM.

Dave and Busters
I am a down girl, meaning 9 times out of 10 I’m always down to do something. Now don’t get this confused with being a chill girl, because I am, to quote Tiffany “New York” Pollard, nothing of the sort. I’ve never been to a Dave and Busters before, and was very excited at the invitation to attend an event there. I can’t think of most things better than eating decedent food, getting a little buzz on while playing arcade games. It’s the simple things, you know?
We ate dinner at D&B’s Bridgeside Room overlooking the water starting with summer-inspired cocktails, appetizers, and entrees, and then were introduced to several new games and simulators, including “Top Gun: Maverick” Virtual Reality.

The Solmar at The Poplar
It might be a bold statement to say, but the Solmar terrace of The Poplar apartments in Northern Liberties transports you to Miami. I’m talking cabanas, multiple pools, and gorgeous city views. T’would be a dream to live in such luxury. They hosted an incredible summer event recently, and I soaked up every moments of being there. Philly man-about-town HughE Dillon covered more of the event on his blog. Alas, the Solmar terrace is only open to residents, so contact that person you went to high school with who lives at The Poplar now ASAP.

If you’ve been feeling numb, angry, hopeless and irate over Roe v. Wade being overturned, please know that I am right there with you. The past few weeks have been extremely difficult, to put it lightly. Below are some Pennsylvania resources and funds to check out.
