Philly Finds Vol. 62

It’s Philly Finds time, which is your weekly dose of things to do and see around Philly. I’m fully recovered from my vacation, I’m seeing Gaga tonight, and one of my best friends is visiting me this weekend. Things are good! So let’s just jump right into it.

But first… if you haven’t already, I hope that you’ll vote for this blog for “Best Philly Blog” in Metro Philly’s “Best of Philly” competition. Under “Arts and Entertainment” you’ll find the Philly Blogger section. Thank you and I love you in advance! <3

Ok, NOW let’s jump into it…

I picked up this beaded choker from Rittenhouse’s Ritual Shoppe

Las Bugambilias

Located in Old City is Las Bugambilias, a family owned restaurant serving up authentic Mexican cuisine. We enjoyed a carafe of the house margarita and I ordered what I always order anytime I see it on the menu – chicken mole. The atmosphere, the food, the company – a lovely dining experience. Chips, guac and marg? A triple combination that never misses. And after a quick Google search, I learned that bugambilias are these pretty plants.

Museum of Illusions

I was invited to visit the Museum of Illusions, also located in Old City. So normally I’m wary of anything that seems to be solely made for Instagram (especially restaurants), but this was actually a very cool experience that I would recommend. You’ll find yourself solving puzzles, bending your mind and second guessing yourself. I spent half-an-hour with two strangers trying to solve a puzzle, which we ultimately did not end up completing. You can get through the whole thing in about a half-hour-45 minutes (unless it takes you forever to solve a puzzle). Adult tickets are around $25.

While the catwalk is stationary, the lights rotate making it feel like you’re moving as you walk.

Dear Evan Hansen – August 16-August 28, 2022

Pasek & Paul’s Dear Evan Hansen is coming to the Forrest Theater next week. I was not one of the lucky ones who saw the show when Ben Platt was playing the leading man (every time I think of Dear Evan Hansen, all I can think about is this clip of RuPaul), so I’m so excited to finally be seeing the show. The show has won 6 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and features the boppity bop Waving Through A Window.

UPDATE: DEAR EVAN HANSEN LOTTERY – The Shubert Organization, the Kimmel Cultural Campus, and Dear Evan Hansen Producer Stacey Mindich announced a digital lottery for the Philly premiere of the musical. For the First North American Tour, the lottery will offer fans the chance to purchase a limited number of $31 tickets available for each performance through Telecharge. The show will be at The Shubert Organization’s Forrest Theatre from Tuesday, August 16 – Sunday, August 28, 2022.

The digital lottery will begin accepting entries at ForrestLottery.com on Sunday, August 14 at 12:00 AM and will be accepted until 9:00 AM the day before the performance. Fans who have been selected will be notified daily via email and can then purchase up to two (2) tickets at $31 each. The ticket lottery will continue on a rolling basis for every performance in the engagement. All entrants are encouraged to follow Dear Evan Hansen on Instagram (@dearevanhansen), Twitter (@dearevanhansen) and Facebook (@DearEvanHansen) for additional lottery news and information. Entrants must be 18 years or older. A valid, non-expired photo ID that matches the name used to enter is required for ticket pickup at the Forrest Theatre. Seat locations awarded via the lottery are subject to availability. Additional lottery requirements can be found at ForrestLottery.com.
