My hair growth journey

It’s been some time since I’ve done both a beauty round-up and personal check-in post here. So let’s do that today.

So for about two years, I’d been experiencing little to no hair growth, as well as extreme damage to my hair. I’m attributing this to a few things – stress, over-processing and dying my hair, diet, and possibly even a COVID side effect? At this exact time last year my hair was only at my chin. Now, for about five years I’ve maintained a blonde bob which I have loved (my natural hair is thick and brunette). It would always grow, but it simply stopped. And to be very honest, this lack of hair growth really affected my self-esteem. As much as we may try to fight it, so much of our confidence comes from our physical appearance, and I was certainly feeling it. It’s funny, this was a topic I really wanted to write about and share, but was too self-conscious to even begin.

So after a great deal of patience and trying seemingly every product on the market (I’ve spent more money on hair products than I care to admit), I finally making noticeable progress. It may not look like too much and there is still a long way to go, but my hair is thicker, healthier and longer than it was a year ago. In the past few months, I’ve had more hair growth than I’ve had in a long time.

So with that being said, I wanted to share the things that have been helping me on this journey. I am obviously no medical professional (could you imagine???) and everyone is different, so just go into this knowing that. What worked for me may not work for someone else. And finally I wanted to mention that there are no affiliate links or sponsored products in this post – these are all my own opinions and experiences. <3

And as for my goals right now – just to continue growing my hair, get it to a healthier place and hopefully fully get back to my natural color (before deciding what to do next 😉).

My hair last year (it was actually shorter and more damaged before these photos)
My hair today. It may not look like much, but this has been significant for me.

We’ll begin with some of the more well-known solutions when it comes to hair growth and restoration. I personally would begin here before spending a ton of moolah.

Olly The Perfect Women’s Multi-Vitamins

I’ve been taking these gummy vitamins, which contain Vitamins A, C, D, E, Bs, biotin & folic acid, daily for +6 months.

The Ordinary’s Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair

And while we’re here, it’s also worth noting that the Ordinary’s hyaluronic acid is another fantastic beauty product.

Grande Gummies Collagen Booster

I bought these after someone mentioned them in a Facebook group and I have noticed a huge difference in the three months I’ve been taking them. Perhaps it’s the combo of the Olly vitamins and these? Either way, I love these.

Silicone Scalp Massager

I use every time I shampoo and condition.

Olaplex – Nº.3 Hair Perfector & Nº.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner

It has been a few months since I last used Olaplex, but I did enjoy these two products when I was consistently using them.

And finally, patience.

Below are some products others have recommended as having helped them in their hair growth journey:

Again I really want to emphasize that the items above are what’s been working for me and that these are my own opinions.

If you’ve had any success with these or any other items, shoot me a DM! <3

  1. […] recently wrote about my ongoing hair journey and told Artur about it as well, and he completely understood my needs and what I was looking for. […]

  2. […] I think this excites me for a much larger reason – it’s a chance for me to take care of myself and show love to myself. I have an extra five minutes to use my NuFace, and more time to let serums sink into my skin. I even spend more time on my hair, which has grown significantly since our last check in. […]
