Favorite Philadelphia Coffee Shops

Coffee. Runs. The. World. Well, at least my world. There is nothing quite like that first cup of hot (or iced) coffee in the morning to start your day, and being in a coffee shop setting really makes the beginning of your day that much better. If you’re a Friends or Gilmore Girls fan, then you’ll know how important Central Perk and Luke’s Diner are to the characters. Coffee shops are just as important IRL – they’re places to unwind, get work done, catch up with friends, and of course, caffinate. Today, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite places to caffinate and unwind around Philly. Even if you’re a coffee connoisseur who’s not from Philly, I think you’ll still appreciate this places.  Grab yourself a cup of the good stuff, and let’s dive in…

Elixr Coffe Roasters is one of my favorite places to grab a cup of Joe. One of the things I like best about Elixr is the art installations found both inside and outside of the shop, which are done by local artists. There is seemingly always a new mural painted outside whenever I stop by, which makes going to Elixr feel like a new experience every time. The cozy, tucked-away setting of Elixr makes you feel like you’ve escaped the hustle of Center City and can take a moment to relax.

Want to be surrounded by quirky art pieces while lounging on a couch? Check out Rocket Cat Cafe in Fishtown. I met up with a few PHL Bloggers ladies here this summer, where we sipped on refreshing iced teas and coffees. Plenty of vegan options too!

Bluestone Lane is no stranger to this blog. I love this place, and I was so happy when it opened in Rittenhouse Square. It’s also an ideal brunch spot, with the Avocado Smash being the ultimate item on the menu. An if you really want to indulge, try the hot chocolate.

Although not in Philadelphia, Drip N’ Scoop in Ocean City, New Jersey deserves a special mention. It’s one of downtown Ocean City’s newest gems, and has the same owner’s as my other favorite OCNJ spot, the Sunrise Cafe. Not only is there amazing coffee, but the ice cream sandwiches are out this world. If I remember correctly, what you see below is a cinnamon glazed donut, chocolate peanut-butter ice cream sandwich. Like I said, out of this world.

OK Philly friends, what places did I miss, and where do I need to go to? Let me know in the comments!

One of my very favorite Philly coffee shops is Old City Coffee, especially in the mornings during the summer. I know that’s really specific… I especially love their iced coffee, though!

I know exactly what you mean! There are certain places I like going to more depending on the weather/time of year. I’ll have to go to Old City Coffee, thanks for the suggestion 🙂
