Philly Finds Vol. 6

Can you feel it? The chill in the air we had this past weekend? The leaves crunching beneath your feet? Fall is on it’s way, baby. If you’re not totally in the spirit yet (I know the humidity certainly doesn’t help), check out my Fall Feeling post from last year (one of my personal fav posts ever). In this edition of Philly Finds, we’re delving into some awesome things to look forward to this autumn around Philly:

Iron Hill Brewery Opening – I grew up going to the Iron Hill in Media, so I’m BEYOND excited that one is finally opening up in the city! Last week I went to the preview of Iron Hill Center City, which is located on 11th and Market. We ate some of my Iron Hill favorites, including the cheesesteak egg rolls and mashed potatoes, and sipped on the beers brewed there (with a name like Philly Special, you know it’s gonna be a good beer). Iron Hill officially opens on September 13 (today!), and you’ll definitely catch me there watching Penn State and Eagles games.

Electric Factory Rename – By now, you’ve probably heard the news about the Electric Factory, but if you haven’t, I’ll catch you up. The Bowery Presents bought the venue from Live Nation, and are unable to use the name “Electric Factory” (RIP). BUT they are holding a contest for the public to rename the venue. If you live PA, NJ, or DE and they pick your “re-name”, you’ll win 2 tickets to every show there through 2020 (and bragging rights.) Will you go the Boaty McBoatface route, or have a different name? Enter your name idea here. I’m really curious to see what name they’ll pick, but to so many of us, it will always be the Electric Factory.

Local Philly Shops –  After hearing so many awesome things about this shop for so long, I finally stopped into M Concept this past weekend. Everything in the store, from clothing to accessories, is from local Philadelphia designers and independent small businesses from around the world. I picked up gorgeous amethyst ring & mid ring, pictured below, for around $30 total. PLUS they tell me they’re opening up an online store on their website soon.

I popped into Tesoro Design, also located on South Street. Founder Brit Reed carefully handcrafts every product on their website or in store. The shop also features artists from the Philadelphia area like jewelers, illustrators, and potters. A great place to shop for a really unique, one-of-a-kind gift.
